We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the execution of Oil & Gas onshore projects in Southern Iraq. Candidate will be based in Abu Dhabi and will be responsible for managing project delivery, client interfaces, contractual obligations, resource allocation, cost control, and overall project performance.
The role requires proven project management experience on large-scale industrial projects (Oil & Gas, phosphates, mining, chemicals, power, or heavy infrastructure), combined with a strong interest in the Oil & Gas sector.
Frequent business trips to Iraq (Basra region), averaging approximately 10 days per month.
Manage the full project lifecycle from project RFQ, to execution, commissioning support, and close-out.
Act as the primary interface between the client, internal stakeholders, and project teams.
Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contractual requirements.
Manage project resources including personnel, subcontractors, vendors, and support functions.
Monitor project progress, identify risks and opportunities, and implement mitigation plans when required.
Prepare and maintain project schedules, progress reports, forecasts, and management dashboards.
Oversee project budgets, cost tracking, invoicing, revenue recognition, and financial performance.
Manage contractual matters including variations, claims, change orders, extensions of time, and commercial negotiations.
Ensure compliance with company procedures, client specifications, local regulations, and HSE requirements.
Support business development activities by identifying opportunities for project growth and additional services.
Maintain regular communication with project teams deployed in Iraq and conduct frequent site visits as required.
Education
Master’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Process, Industrial, or equivalent), ideally from a top-tier engineering school (Grande École / leading engineering institution).
Experience
Minimum 4 years of Project Management experience on large industrial or EPC projects (Oil & Gas, phosphates, mining, chemicals, power, or heavy industry).
Proven experience managing complex onshore industrial projects, with genuine knowledge of or a strong interest in the Oil & Gas industry.
Previous experience working for international engineering, EPC, industrial, or service companies is mandatory.
Commissioning and/or Start-up experience are considered a strong advantage.
Experience in OPERCOM methodology (or an equivalent structured commissioning methodology) is a strong advantage.
Experience working in Iraq or other Middle East countries is preferred; willingness to relocate and work in a multicultural international environment is essential.
Proven experience in cost control, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams in an international environment.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is mandatory.
Strong analytical, organizational, and reporting capabilities.
Proficiency in English is mandatory
Proficiency in Arabic is a strong plus
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
