Introduction to the position
Join Vera Health, a fast-growing health tech startup, as a Mobile Engineer helping us shape the future of real-time health experiences on mobile. You’ll work directly with our founding software engineer, to design, build, and ship new features for our main mobile app built with React Native and Expo.
We’re looking for someone who thrives on ownership, enjoys tackling challenging UI problems, and can think creatively about performance and optimization. You’ll be part of a lean team where your impact will be immediate and visible.
Your role
- Develop and Ship Features: Build, optimize, and maintain core features of our mobile app using React Native, Expo, and TypeScript, ensuring a smooth experience across iOS and Android.
- Enhance Real-Time Capabilities: Improve and extend existing real-time markdown event stream integrations, ensuring smoother performance and more interactive user experiences.
- Collaborate on Mobile Development: Work closely with the team contributing to feature design, architecture decisions, and overall app quality.
- Own the Experience: Think critically about mobile UX (from interface design to performance optimization) and push for improvements that delight users.
- Stay Curious: Experiment with new technologies, libraries, and design patterns to continuously improve our mobile architecture and delivery.

Your qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience in mobile development, using React Native and Expo.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and modern React practices.
- Experience building and deploying production-ready mobile features for both iOS and Android.
- Hands-on experience enhancing real-time or event-stream data integrations in mobile UIs (e.g., markdown or chat-like live interfaces).
- Good understanding of REST APIs, backend data flow, and how to structure mobile apps around external services.
- Curious, adaptable, and motivated , you enjoy solving complex problems with creative technical solutions.
- A strong sense of ownership and independence; you can take an idea from concept to production confidently.
